Midnight Revolver Cocktail

Midnight Revolver Cocktail

What does it taste like?

Similar to the Revolver cocktail, this Midnight variation of it will greet you with the warmth and depth of bourbon but also temper it with the sweet notes of coffee liqueur. The bitterness of the coffee dances with the bourbon’s earthy oak notes, giving off a slight tang and spice. The Luxardo cherry and orange zest come in towards the end as afternotes, giving you a clean and slightly sweet lingering taste that’ll keep you invigorated for the ball drop.

Recipe Notes

The use of high-quality ingredients, especially the bourbon and espresso liqueur, will significantly elevate the cocktail.
Ensure the gold flake or powder is food-grade if using gold.
The Luxardo cherry adds a sweet counterpoint and provides a sophisticated garnish.

Serving Size: 1

High-end Bourbon (2 oz)
Luxardo Espresso Liqueur (0.5 oz)
Angostura Orange Bitters (2 dashes)
Luxardo Cherry (1)
Orange zest (1)
Gold Flake or Edible Gold Powder (1 pinch)

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Glass: Chill a Nick & Nora glass or a small coupe in the freezer or with ice water.
  • Mix the Cocktail: In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the bourbon, espresso liqueur, and orange bitters.
  • Stir to Chill: Stir gently but thoroughly until the mixture is well chilled, about 30 seconds.
  • Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass. Pour low so that the mixture stays settled with minimal aeration.
  • Garnish: Express the oils from the orange zest over the surface of the drink, then discard the zest. Add a single Luxardo cherry to the bottom of the glass.
  • (optional) Gold Touch: Carefully add a pinch of gold flake or edible gold powder on top for a shimmering effect.
